One of the biggest problems I see is that corporations were given human status—which in and of itself is no big deal. The rub is that their goal is to maximize shareholder value. Many times to do this they become detached as “individuals” and make decisions that make them bad corporate ”citizens” (mass layoffs, environmental shortcuts, deceitfulness). The documentary, “The Corporation“ correlated these characteristics and others to those displayed by psychopaths.
Another problem is with our two party one party system (Democrats & Republicans), whereby large “people” (corporations) have a disproportional influence over the “law makers” (K-Street whores). If you think that is strong verbiage then please click on both links, anyone who spends 2 days a week graveling lobbyist to get re-elected so they can make millions shooting down consumer regulations or betting against the stock market with insider information they received from Bernanke and Paulson is a dangerous and destructive psychopath.
Today I became aware that two States (Hawaii & New Mexico) sent Resolutions to the US Congress petitioning for a new Constitutional Amendment that declares:
(1) Corporations are not people with the same inalienable rights, and
(2) money is not speech and can be regulated in terms of limiting campaign contributions.
